Everything you want to know and a few things you didn’t realise you needed
From someone who came, visited… and never left
For the past 17 years, I’ve been the administrator and content creator of the Puerto de Mogán Facebook page, which today has more than 75,000 followers.
During that time, I’ve answered thousands of messages and comments.
Some questions come up almost every day.
Others appear now and then.
And some are things people don’t think to ask until they are already here.
There are also things that has taken me years to understand properly ;small details, patterns, and ways the place works that are not immediately obvious.
This guide aim to bring all of that together.
It starts with how Playa de Mogán became Puerto de Mogán, so you understand how the place developed and why it feels the way it does today.
It then explains clearly how Puerto de Mogán is structured — the harbour, the old village, the beach, and the resort area — and how these parts connect.
This alone makes it much easier to find your way around and understand where you are.
You’ll find a full explanation of the daily rhythm of Puerto de Mogán, so you know when it is quiet, when it is busy, and how the atmosphere changes throughout the day.
The weather is explained properly, including the wind and the Alisios, and why forecasts often don’t match what you experience when you arrive.
There is clear, practical guidance on transport and how to get around, both within Puerto de Mogán and from other parts of the island.
Eating and drinking are covered in a way that helps you choose what suits you, rather than just listing places.
You’ll also find a detailed overview of what to do — from simple walks to places and viewpoints that many visitors miss.
The guide includes the small but important things:
local manners, unwritten rules, and how things are usually done.
There is also a straightforward section on safety, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Beyond the basics, the guide goes further.
It includes places around Puerto de Mogán that are easy to miss if you don’t know they are there.
It explains the role of the sea and how it shapes the area.
There is a full chapter on the most common mistakes first-time visitors make — based directly on years of questions and observations.
And another on why so many people return, often year after year.
You will also find a collection of the questions visitors most often ask, gathered in one place so you don’t have to search for answers.
At the end of the guide, there are appendices designed to be easy to use:
A few recipes from my own kitchen
Useful Spanish words and phrases
A quick guide with practical information
And a list of useful links
I’ve spent the last 20 years here, much of that time living in Puerto de Mogán.
Writing this guide also made me see the place even more clearly and understand things I hadn’t fully put into words before.
The purpose of the guide is simple:
To help you feel more confident before you arrive,
to avoid the most common mistakes,
and to get more out of your time in Puerto de Mogán.
The guide has
96 pages
16 chapters
4 apendices
