🌺 Restaurant Review: El Patio Mogán

Restaurant Review: El Patio Mogán

There are some places in Puerto de Mogán that are right in the middle of everything, and then there are places like El Patio. It sits a little on its own and is not somewhere you simply stumble across by accident. You almost need to know it is there. It is located just outside the furthest exit at the back of Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa, or if you walk along the promenade from the beach direction, you will find it on the right-hand side. I have included a map below in the comment section because it is worth finding.

This was my first visit and it certainly will not be my last.

We came five of us for a lunch and stayed for over 3 hours.

Even on a Friday, and on market day too, it felt surprisingly peaceful. It has a more tucked-away feel and one of those atmospheres where you sit down for lunch and suddenly realise you have stayed much longer than expected. Relaxed, comfortable and without that feeling of being squeezed between tables.

I chose the Chicken Skewers with Peanut Sauce and Fries (€20). To me, this is really a chicken satay with fries. Years ago this used to be my favourite dish at Zoo Bar & Grill, and I understand now that the former chef brought the recipe with her.

I was very happy about that.

It was exactly what I had hoped for. The satay sauce was creamy, rich and properly balanced, and the fries were proper hand-cut style chips rather than thin frozen fries. There was also a lovely lentil garnish salad alongside which made it feel a little different.

Two of us had the Norwegian Salmon Fillet with Teriyaki Sauce, Vegetables and Basmati Rice (€24). The presentation immediately stood out. Beautifully arranged and colourful, and the salmon itself was cooked nicely with flavours that worked very well together.

Two others chose the Chicken Caesar Salad (€15) with crispy chicken and they both loved it. Fresh, generous portions and perfect for a warm afternoon.

For dessert we had the Apple Strudel with Vanilla Ice Cream (€7) and Greek yoghurt with fresh fruits, honey and nuts (€7). The apple strudel felt warm and comforting while the yoghurt was lighter and fresh.

Service was another positive. Our waitress was attentive, friendly and easy to communicate with, speaking English, German and Spanish.

One thing to mention if you are here now:

El Patio closes for summer holidays from Monday 25th May and will reopen in September.

So if you are in Puerto de Mogán this weekend, I would genuinely suggest giving it a try. It turned out to be a very nice surprise.
