☀️ A NEW WEEK BEGINS

Blue skies are waiting for Puerto de Mogán this morning, and another warm summer’s day lies ahead.

My thoughts are also with everyone affected by the terrible wildfires around Madrid and Bordeaux. The scenes are heartbreaking, and I hope those in the affected areas remain safe.

🎶 DID YOU JOIN US YESTERDAY?

Did you come to the square yesterday afternoon, and did you enjoy the music?

I thought Los Salvapantallas were absolutely brilliant. They even played what many people jokingly call Norway’s unofficial national song, A-ha’s “Take On Me”. 🇳🇴🎶

It created such a happy atmosphere, and it was wonderful to see the square filled with people enjoying the Fiesta del Carmen celebrations together.

The celebrations continue today in Playa de Mogán.

Brilé is a traditional team ball game similar to dodgeball.

Puerto de Mogán should feel pleasantly warm rather than excessively hot, although it will feel much stronger in direct sunshine.

Playa Chica

Playa Chica is the small, more natural beach behind the colourful Mogán sign.

The water can be beautifully clear, but it is more exposed than the main beach.

Small children should never be left unattended near the beach, rocks or harbour edge.

Air quality is forecast to remain moderate today.

Most people should be able to continue normal activities.

Those with asthma or respiratory sensitivity may notice the fine particles more, particularly during the warmest part of the day.

Keep medication nearby, drink sufficient water and reduce strenuous outdoor activity if you begin to feel uncomfortable.

Conditions at Gran Canaria Airport are suitable for normal flight operations this morning.

The latest airport report shows:

✈️ Visibility of 10 kilometres or more

🌡️ Temperature around 22°C

🌬️ Northerly wind at approximately 11 knots

☁️ A few clouds at around 2,500 feet

✅ No significant change reported

The airport forecast gives a maximum of approximately 28°C today.

There is a 30% possibility of temporarily stronger winds and gusts during the day, but conditions remain within normal visual-flight requirements.

For UK and other non-Schengen travellers

Passport control for departing passengers is located after security in Area D.

Families travelling with children under 12 normally need to use the staffed manual passport-control lanes.

Please allow extra time, particularly during busy departure periods.

🗺️ A SMALL VILLAGE CHALLENGE

Here is a small challenge I sometimes suggest to visitors.

Begin at La Placita, the little square near the blue bridges, and try to find your way back to the post office using only the narrow lanes and passages of the old village.

Do not use the Main Street.

Follow the smaller alleys, take your time and see where they lead you.

The best way to discover this part of Puerto de Mogán is not always by following a map too carefully.

Sometimes, it is simply by wandering. 🌺
