RESTAURANT REVIEW - Monaco Mar

This week’s restaurant review is from Monaco Mar, located in Plaza Mogán shopping centre, directly opposite Cordial Mogán Playa, making it a very convenient option for guests staying in that area and nearby hotels.
It is also worth noting that the kitchen stays open until midnight, which makes it one of the better choices if you arrive late into Puerto de Mogán and are looking for food after many other kitchens have closed.
The Setting
Monaco Mar has a modern, lively atmosphere with two slightly different sections:
• a more relaxed lounge-style area with very comfortable seating
• a restaurant area with regular live music / piano entertainment
It is stylish and well presented, but do be aware this is not a quiet dining venue. Between the live music inside and neighbouring entertainment nearby, it can be quite noisy.
For some people that adds atmosphere. For others, especially if you prefer a calmer dinner setting, it may feel a bit much.
What We Ordered
• Chicken nachos with guacamole - €12.95
• Chicken in garlic with rice/fries - €18.95
• Grilled chicken breast - €16.95
• Extra pepper sauce - €3.00
• Drinks and water
Total Bill: €80.50
What Stood Out
The staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout.
The nachos were very nice and a generous starter.
The grilled chicken breast was also well received.
My own dish - the garlic chicken - had a pleasant garlic flavour, although personally I would have preferred the garlic to be cooked a little less heavily for a fresher taste.
The chicken itself was unfortunately slightly dry. I had asked for fries, but the dish arrived with both fries and rice.
Price Level / Value
This is firmly in the upper tourist restaurant price bracket for Puerto de Mogán.
While the setting and opening hours add value, I do think some items are priced ambitiously:
• €18.95 for the garlic chicken felt expensive for what was served
• €3.00 for a small extra sauce also felt on the high side
My Verdict
Monaco Mar is a good option if you want:
• a late-night kitchen
• lively atmosphere
• modern surroundings
• broad international menu
• convenient location near the hotels
However, if you are looking primarily for best value for money or quiet dining, there may be stronger options elsewhere in Puerto de Mogán.
Overall
A pleasant experience with friendly staff and a great location, but for me the pricing was slightly ahead of the food quality/value on this visit.
