If you are visiting Gran Canaria and haven’t tried a Barraquito yet… you really should 🌺
It has become one of the most popular and photographed coffee drinks in the Canary Islands over the past few years, and once people try one, they usually understand why.
Traditionally from Santa Cruz in Tenerife, the Barraquito has slowly spread across all the Canary Islands and is now loved by both locals and visitors.
It’s somewhere between:☕ a coffee🍰 a dessert🥃 and a little after-dinner treat
Perfect after a meal instead of dessert… or instead of an Irish coffee.
A classic Barraquito is made with beautiful layers of:
• Condensed milk
• Licor 43
• Fresh espresso
• Hot milk
• Milk foam
• Cinnamon
• Lemon zest 🍋
Normally served in a clear glass so you can see all the layers before stirring it together.
Sweet, creamy, and very Canarian 🌺
And here is the little secret:
Even if it’s not written on the menu… many cafés and restaurants can still make one for you. So if you fancy trying something local:👉 just ask for a Barraquito
Now I’m curious…
☕ Where have you had your best Barraquito in Gran Canaria?
And do you stir it immediately… or admire the layers first? 😊
Feel free to share your photos below 👇🌺
