Why we went
Some of you suggested I should review this restaurant.
I went for a relaxed dinner with friends. I had been here many times when Martin was the chef, so I was curious to see how it is now after not visiting for two years.
The setting
Located on the first floor of Plaza Mogán. If you sit on the outer side facing the promenade, you get a lovely view down towards the beach and sea . That side is also the quietest, away from music from the other establishments.
It felt tidy, with good space between tables, and a calm atmosphere. Most guests were couples, which gives it a slightly more relaxed evening feel.
What we ordered
We shared a proper dinner experience:
* Salt cod with butter and bacon (2 portions)and Canarian potatoes with mojo
* Ribeye steak with gratinated potatoes and béarnaise sauce
* Desserts: tiramisu and chocolate ice cream
* Red wine (recommended by staff), water, beer and coffee
What stood out
The ribeye was really excellent – tender and full of flavour. Perfectly done. Gratinated potatoes were really good.
The cod dishes were also very good, though the bacon was cut quite thick and felt more boiled than crispy.
Canarian potatoes were tasty, though a bit unusual to combine mojo with salt cod for us Scandinavians.
Vegetables were fine, but slightly overcooked.
The red wine recommendation was very good; especially with the cod.
The wine we had was Celeste Roble (2024) from Ribera del Duero; a young red, slightly oaked, with soft tannins and a bit of freshness.
For salted cod, many people would automatically go for white wine, but this worked surprisingly well. The reason is:
* The saltiness of the cod needs something with body to balance it
* The butter and bacon add richness and fat, which a red wine handles better
* The wine has enough freshness to not feel heavy with the fish
* The light oak gives a bit of warmth without overpowering the dish
So instead of clashing, it actually rounded the dish nicely and made it feel more like a complete, hearty meal rather than a delicate fish dish.
My takeaway:
If the cod is served simple and light → go white
If it’s served with butter, bacon or richer flavours → a soft red like this works very well
This was one of those small details that really lifted the overall experience
Dessert
Tiramisu was good, but not memorable. A bit heavy, less airy than expected, and slightly too much cacao on top.
The chocolate ice cream, on the other hand, was very good.
Service
Friendly and professional service from both a man and a woman. Calm, attentive, and comfortable to interact with.
Price level & value
Total: €118.50 for 3 people
Around €35–€45 per person depending on wine and dishes
This is good value for money, especially considering the quality of the meat and overall experience.
My verdict
The quality is not quite at the level it was when Martin was in the kitchen; but that’s a very high benchmark.
Even so, this is still a very good restaurant, with solid food, nice surroundings, and a relaxed atmosphere.
